There are countless reasons to spend your holidays in the Algarve, but in addition to the obvious ones, such as tranquil beaches, mild climate, excellent gastronomy, and the characteristic hospitality of the locals, there are also events for all tastes! That’s the theme of our invitation for your next summer vacation in the Algarve. Come and discover the festivals, fairs, exhibitions, and other events that will mark the summer of 2023 in the Algarve.

  1. GC32 Racing Tour – Lagos Cup
From June 21st to 25th | Lagos

The GC32 Racing Tour is a sailing regatta circuit with GC32 catamarans. The circuit was created in 2013 and consists of several stages held in different locations around the world. The Lagos Cup is one of the stages of the GC32 Racing Tour, taking place from June 21st to 25th, 2023. Since the 2022 edition, the city of Lagos has renovated its infrastructure to host this nautical event. The competition welcomes professional sailors from around the world, delighting fans of the sport. The second stage of the competition will be held from July 10th to 14th. (+ information)

  1. Adriana Calcanhotto – Concert
June 23rd | Teatro das Figuras – Faro

Adriana Calcanhotto sings, enchants, and composes her own songs. She is known for her sweet voice and poetic compositions. In Portugal, she became more famous with songs like “Fico assim sem você” or “Vambora.” The musical genres in her repertoire are based on Brazilian popular music, pop, and bossa nova. On June 23rd, Adriana Calcanhotto will bring her show “Errante,” the same name as her latest album released in March this year, to Teatro das Figuras in Faro. (+ information)

  1. Afro Nation Festival
From June 28th to 30th | Praia da Rocha – Portimão

The Afro Nation Festival takes place for the third time on the sands of Praia da Rocha in Portimão. The previous editions were a success, and this year is expected to be no different. The festival brings great names of hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, afrohouse, bashment, and more to the Algarve. The 2023 edition will feature a total of 57 artists, including 50 Cent, Wizkid, Davido, Booba, Burna Boy, and many more. During the event, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy live performances, DJs, beach parties, and other activities related to music and Afro culture. (+ information)

  1. MED Festival
From June 29th to July 1st | Loulé

The MED Festival celebrates world music, providing a unique experience in the streets and squares of Loulé from June 29th to July 1st. In addition to musical performances, the MED Festival also offers a diverse program of parallel events. This includes workshops, craft stands, cinema, cine-concerts, and much more. The festival aims to provide an immersive experience in world culture to visitors. Some of the invited artists include Omar Souleyman (Syria), Club Makumba (Portugal), Horace Andy (Jamaica), AYWA (Morocco/France), and many more. (+ information)

  1. Rolling Loud Festival
From July 5th to 7th | Praia da Rocha – Portimão

Rolling Loud is a hip-hop music festival that has made its mark in the United States, with editions in Miami, Los Angeles, and New York. In 2022, it made its debut in Portugal and was a huge success. That’s why it’s returning to the sands of Praia da Rocha in July. This year’s headliners include Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Meek Mill. To complete the lineup, renowned artists from the world of hip-hop and trap such as Central Cee, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, and Glorilla will also be there. (+ information)

  1. Silves Medieval Fair
From August 10th to 20th | Silves

The Silves Medieval Fair is a historical recreation of the medieval era, where visitors are transported back in time through thematic settings, games, music, gastronomy, and other immersive experiences that take place over the course of 10 days. At this fair, visitors are invited to dress in period costumes and exchange their Euros for Xilbs, the currency used in the ancient capital of the Algarve. This event is a highlight of the Algarve summer and suitable for the whole family. (+ information)

  1. Fatacil Fair
From August 18th to 26th | Lagoa

For those who don’t know yet, FATACIL is an acronym for the Crafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Commerce, and Industry Fair of Lagoa. Perhaps this helps us understand everything that can happen during the next edition of the famous Lagoa fair. Every year, various exhibitors from national companies come together to showcase the best of what Portugal has to offer. Alongside the business exhibitors, there are craft, food and beverage, and clothing stands. FATACIL offers various experiences to its visitors, and to end each night of the event, there will always be concerts. This year’s invited artists include Richie Campbell, Toy, Bárbara Tinoco, and Quim Barreiros. (+ information)

  1. Banho 29 (Bath 29)
From August 28th to 29th | Beaches of Lagos

The Banho 29 in Lagos is an eagerly anticipated event, not only for the people of Lagos but also for its visitors. On the night of August 28th to 29th, groups of friends gather on the city’s beaches to take a midnight dip in the sea. It is said that this dive is equivalent to 29 and is nothing more than a ritual to bid farewell to the summer, which is passed down from generation to generation. In the city center, there are concerts and a contest for vintage swimwear.
