Mountain Tour
Full Day Tour – 7 hours
The Mountain Tour is a jeep tour through the Serra de Monchique, which takes you to places you would never otherwise have the chance to see. From start to finish, this off-road tour shows you the best hidden treasures of the Algarve.
We drive along the margins of the Bravura Dam to discover the region’s fauna and flora and continue on secondary roads towards the rural Algarve. Already at the highest point of the Monchique mountain range, at Fóia, you will have a 360 degree panoramic view of some of the towns in the region.
The jeep tour through the unknown Algarve would never be complete without a visit to a honey and medronho producer. Learn about the stages of each product and at the end, taste the distilled drink made from these fruits that grow on the slopes of Serra de Monchique. Next, we will make a brief stop in the peaceful village of Monchique and then head for Alferce, where we will be served lunch at a typical restaurant. We start our descent to Lagos, but not before enjoying the landscape of Picota and getting to know the process of cork harvesting.
Half Day Tour – 4 hours
Take the Mountain Tour – half day, and get to know the best of the Monchique Mountains in just 4 hours. Experience a journey to the unknown Algarve through traditional knowledge.
This off-road tour starts on the margins of Barragem da Bravura and follows secondary roads until you reach the highest point of the Algarve. Fóia – will be the surprise of this half day jeep tour. Expect a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view.
To sweeten this jeep tour, we make an appointment with a honey, melosa and medronho producer, to taste these products made with ancestral techniques and understand the whole manufacturing process, from nature to the shelves.
As we descend into the Serra de Monchique, we head for an area of cork oak trees. Learn how cork is harvested and the thousand and one uses of this environmentally friendly material. We end our half-day jeep tour again in Lagos.
